These Terms of Use constitute a legal agreement between you and Ask John English. This agreement remains in effect while you use or are a member of the Ask John English site. Please read this statement carefully.

Free Membership

You may become a member of Ask John English at no cost. As a member, you will have full access to all of the free rooms and free services on the site. Other rooms, courses, services and features on the site may require a fee.  

Ending Your Membership or Access

You may cancel your membership at any time, for any reason, by sending an email to admin@askjohnenglish.com with 'delete me' in the subject line. Your account will then be permanently deleted from the site.

Ask John English also reserves the right to delete member accounts or deny access at any time, for any reason, without notice.

No Unlawful or Prohibited Use

As a condition of your use of the Ask John English site, you agree that you will not use the Ask John English site in any unlawful or prohibited way. You agree to not use the Ask John English site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Ask John English site or interfere with any other members use and enjoyment of the site. You agree to not attempt to obtain or obtain any materials or information from the site in any way, except methods intentionally made available or provided by the Ask John English site.

Use of Social Networking and Communication Services

The Ask John English site contains discussion forums, chat rooms, private messaging, blogs, personal web pages, calendars, and other messaging, social networking and communication facilities designed to enable you to communicate with members and the general public. You agree to use these social networking services only to post, send and receive messages and material that is relevant and appropriate. As an example, but not as a limitation, you agree that when using a social networking or communication service, you will not:

• Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
• Publish, post, upload or distribute any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information.
• Upload files that contain software or other material protected by intellectual property laws (or by rights of privacy of publicity) unless you own or control the rights or have received consent by the owner.
• Upload files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of the site or another's computer.
• Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless the given communication service has been set up explicitly for this purpose.
• Conduct or forward surveys, contests, pyramid schemes or chain letters.
• Download any file posted by another user that you know, or reasonably should know, cannot be legally distributed.
• Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Ask John English site.
• Collect information about others, including email addresses, without their consent.
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations.

Ask John English is not obliged to monitor the social networking services. However, Ask John English reserves the right to view, edit, delete or remove any materials posted on any part of the site at any time. Ask John English reserves the right to end your access to any or all of the social networking or communication services at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever. 

Ask John English reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as required by law, regulation, legal process or governmental request.

Always be careful when giving out any personal information about yourself or others in any social networking or communication service. Ask John English does not control or endorse the content or information found in any social networking or communication service. Ask John English specifically disclaims any liability with regard to the social networking and communication services and anything resulting from your use of these services. Members (including teachers and leaders) are not authorised Ask John English spokesperpsons, and their views do not necessarily reflect those of Ask John English.

Material Provided to Ask John English or Posted on any Ask John English Site

Ask John English does not claim ownership of the materials you add to the site including feedback and suggestions, posts, uploads. However, by posting, uploading, providing or submitting your material you are giving Ask John English permission to use your material within the operation of business including, without limitation, the right to: copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat your material; and to publish your screen name in connection with your material.

No compensation will be paid for the use of your material. Ask John English is under no obligation to post or use any material you may provide and may remove any material at any time.

By posting, uploading, inputting, providing or submitting your material you warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the necessary rights for you to provide, post, upload, input or submit the material.

Links to Other Websites

Ask John English contains links to other sites. Some of these links have been included by the Ask John English site creators, and others have been added by members or visitors of the Ask John English website.

Ask John English is not in control of such linked sites and is not responsible for the content on other websites. This includes videos or other material that has been embedded into the Ask John English site (such as, but not limited to, youtube.com videos or other materials).

If any part of this agreement is determined to be invalid or unenforceable due to applicable law including, but not limited to, the warranty disclaimers and liability limitations above, then the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision and the remainder of the agreement shall continue in effect. 

Unless otherwise specified herein, this agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the user and Ask John English with respect to the Ask John English site and it supersedes all prior agreements between the user and Ask John English.

Limitation On Use of Information

You agree to use the content and information from the Ask John English site only for your own private use or study purposes and to never publish, print, download, transmit, distribut, re engineer or reproduce in any form any part of the Ask John English site content or information for any purpose.

Ask John English will occasionally change these terms of use, including but not limited to any charges associated with the use of the Ask John English site.
