Making Friends in English Introduction to good English Pronunciation

Is it okay to make mistakes when you speak English?

By John On November 19, 2008 · 4 Comments · In Conversation

Many students try very hard to never make a mistake when they speak English. This usually makes them speak VERY slowly. Other students don’t worry about mistakes when they speak. Others speak very quickly and hope no one will notice their mistakes.

Is it okay to make mistakes? Do you need perfect English?

Last year, Sydney held the APEC meeting. APEC means: Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. http://www.apec2007.org/

21 world leaders came to Australia, to meet and talk about business. George Bush gave a speech, which was interesting because he made a mistake!

He said OPEC not APEC.

???[???i?????????jWatch the video below.

Everyone makes mistakes when they talk, even native speakers! I am sure you also sometimes make a mistake when you talk in your language! So don’t be shy to try your English!

Remember:

  • Use your English as much as you can!
  • Don’t be shy!
  • It is okay to make mistakes!

Question: What did George Bush say after he realised he made a mistake? Let me know in the comments!?

im the kind of person who doesnt care abot making mistakes while im talking but of course i want to be aware of them and dont make them again.
everytime we learn something new we have to make a mistake, when we learn to ride a byke or a skate we fall.
the more often we make mistakes the slower and solid will be the rising, so dont be afraid and make mistakes. and dont mind if people correct you they just want you to improve.
    cya:)

    I agree Marcos.

I also learn that way. I learnt to ski by going to the top of a large hill by myself. The only way down was to fall or ski!

Yahoo! What a fun day that was!

    both of you absolutely right………!!

i think no one is perfect…
and no one wants to make mistakes

as we’re talkin about mistakes that we get when we speak in english
first of all if english is not our main language(it does not mean u can make mistakes!!!)… dont be shy to speak in english:))) but you have to try your best!!! :)
second like i told to you that no one is perfect!!
however if people try to correct you. you have to get their points and take the chance which you have on your hands. then change it to be better :)
and if somebody puts you down, never answer with a frown just smile and fly away from them!lols :D

    and
u can correct my language, i’ll be happy :) ))))
because english is not main language in my country :)
